80 Torque Mast - 80T

80 Torque Mast - 80T

Introducing the 80 Torque Mast

The 80T (Torque) mast is the ultimate choice for riders seeking the perfect balance of rigidity, torsional stiffness, and speed thanks to its deluxe high-modulus carbon construction. Notably faster than the 800 Progression mast, the Torque is nearly as stiff. Its high-modulus carbon construction allows for a thinner profile, increasing speed and efficiency, while maintaining a rigid and reliable feel. This mast is your well-rounded choice for versatility across all foiling disciplines. If you could have only one mast, 80 Torque is the one.

How to Choose the Right Mast

When deciding between Unifoil's masts, consider the following factors:

Your Riding Style:

  • If you're chasing maximum speed and efficiency, the 75R mast is ideal. It’s designed for riders looking to push their limits with a thinner profile, making it perfect for those who want to accelerate, glide, and carve at top speeds. In bigger waves or chunky downwind conditions needing more clearance, the 83R is ideal. Being longer it will have a touch more drag and flex than the 75R, but the mast section is identical.

  • The most versatile, all-around option, the 80T provides a balance of speed, control and clearance. This mast is great across all foiling disciplines and delivers enhanced torsional stiffness for precision and stability while still delivering respectable speed.

Your Weight:

  • Heavier riders are more susceptible to mast flex. If you're on the heavier side, opting for a mast with higher torsional stiffness can provide better resistance to flex while maintaining performance. A shorter, stiffer mast is also a great option for those focused on maximizing speed and minimizing drag.

Your Foil Size:

  • Larger foils exert more force on the mast, increasing the likelihood of flex. The 80T can handle larger foils better due to its torsional stiffness and versatility, making it an excellent choice for those using medium to large wings.

  • If you’re using a smaller foil and prioritize speed, the 75R & 83R are optimized for minimal drag and maximum acceleration.

  • Riding wings 150+ in size, we recommend choosing the 80T or Progression 800.

Mast Length:

  • Longer masts are more versatile, allowing greater board clearance at steeper bank angles or riding in choppy conditions.

  • Shorter masts are inherently stiffer (in equal construction & thickness), and with less wetted area they are ideal for speed-focused riding with maximum responsiveness. The shorter the mast, the more reactive the feel.

  • The less mast in the water (wetted area), the more efficient your glide.
