The Progression Series is where the Unifoil story began — a groundbreaking collaboration between Unifoil Chief Designer Clifford Coetzer and Erik Antonson of The Progression Podcast, built around a single question: what if a high-aspect foil could work equally well for every level of rider? Since then, the Evolution and Aggression series have expanded the Unifoil lineup into higher-performance territory, and the Progression has settled into what many consider its ideal role: the best beginner and intermediate foil on the market. If you're new to foiling, or shopping for someone who is, this is the series that will get you on the Unifoil platform, build your skills faster than anything else out there, and still be in your quiver years down the road.

What makes the Progression different is the combination of traits that other foils treat as trade-offs. It has the glide, pump efficiency, and low stall speed of a genuine high-aspect design, while still turning with the responsiveness of a mid-aspect surf wing. Every size was designed from the ground up rather than scaled, so each wing has its own character tailored to its surface area. The common thread across the range is stable pitch control that stays forgiving and intuitive through a wide speed range, a direct connection between rider and foil for better feedback in turbulence and tip breaches, and high-aspect dihedral geometry that enables tighter turns than you'd expect from a wing this efficient. The lowered stall speed is perhaps the most talked-about trait — it extends glide time, reduces fatigue, and dramatically improves the cardio-to-distance ratio, letting riders catch smaller bumps, connect more waves, and stay on foil longer without burning out. The Progression excels across all types of surf — groomed offshore lines, onshore slop, beach breaks, hollow reef breaks, and point breaks — and performs equally well across prone, wing, downwind, and tow disciplines. All sizes ship with a protective cover included.

The community has spoken loudly on this one. Over on the Progression Project Forum — the largest dedicated foiling community on the internet — the Progression series comes up constantly as the go-to recommendation for new riders:

"The P170 is very tolerant of mistakes and still stays on foil at very low speeds which is great for learning."— TWS, Progression Project Forum

"These wings have been a complete game changer for me and have taken me from a prone foiling complete beginner to a low level intermediate in a matter of months." — Forum user, Progression Project Forum

"One of the best foil setups you can get from beginner to advanced riders. Made to glide and pump beyond its size yet surfs/wings/downwinds incredibly well." — Forum user, Progression Project Forum

And from Foiling Magazine's double review of the 140 and 170: "Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned rider, this foil has got you covered."

Progression 100 — The highest-aspect wing in the lineup, delivering a meaningful step up in speed, roll, and efficiency; a wide, usable speed range makes it equally at home in chest-to-head-high surf, faster moving waves, and winging at any level — ideal for riders ready to push the series toward its performance ceiling.

Progression 125 — The faster, more performance-oriented take on the 140 feel; carries the same forgiving, predictable character but with higher top speed, tighter roll, and improved efficiency — Erik's go-to for towing and better surf, and the natural daily driver for lighter or more advanced riders.

Progression 140 — The benchmark of the series and the most versatile all-around option; the reference point every other Progression size is measured against, delivering the signature balance of low stall speed, stable pitch, and confident pump/glide from waist-high to overhead across any discipline.

Progression 170 — The sweet spot for most new foilers and the overwhelming community favorite for learning; delivers maximum carry and easy low-end lift while still turning tighter than you'd expect — the foil the forum recommends most often when someone asks where to start.

Progression 200 — The most forgiving and lowest-stall wing in the series, built around seamless roll and pitch transitions and outstanding low-end glide; Erik describes it as the retro twin fin of foiling — you'll leave every session stoked — and the top choice for very small surf, dock starts, downwind SUP, and light-wind winging.

Beginner to pro. One wing.

The World's First High-Aspect For Everyone.

The Progression is the first high-aspect hydrofoil wing that works equally well for beginners and advanced riders. Super low stall speed, effortless pump, and a pitch-neutral feel that never fights you. It's why thousands of riders learned to foil on this wing — and why pros still ride it every day.

Progression Front Wing

Pump further. Stall later.

Lowest Stall Speed in Its Class

The Progression's low stall speed means you stay on foil when other wings drop out. Less speed needed to get up, more forgiveness when you slow down, and effortless pump efficiency that lets you link waves and cover distance without burning out. The wing that keeps you flying.

High-aspect glide. Mid-aspect turns.

Carves Like Nothing Else at This Aspect Ratio.

Most high-aspect wings sacrifice turning for glide. The Progression doesn't. It carves like a mid-aspect surf wing while delivering the pump efficiency and glide of a true high-aspect design. Tight radius turns, smooth rail-to-rail transitions, and a surfy feel that makes every session fun.
