About Us

3 questions

Unifoil has been under new management since March 2026. We're a small, dedicated team of passionate foilers running day-to-day operations, supported by a group of team riders and ambassadors, along with our designer and founder, Cliff Coetzer.

When you email us, you're emailing us directly.

We aim for within 1–2 business days and usually beat that. We're a two-person team handling everything ourselves — during busy periods it may occasionally take a little longer, but we read and respond to every single message.

Please be patient with us and we promise we'll get back to you.

We moved to direct-to-consumer in November 2025. That means better prices, faster support, and a closer relationship with our community. After a long discussion, we felt this move was best for our community, our customers, and the brand.

Shipping & Delivery

7 questions

US orders ship from our Huntington Beach, California warehouse.

Australian and international orders ship from our China warehouse via DHL or FedEx. Transit time is typically 5–12 business days for international shipments.

Yes — we ship internationally. We currently ship to: USA, Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, all of Europe, New Zealand, Japan, Israel, South Korea, and United Arab Emirates.

US and Hawaii orders ship from our Huntington Beach warehouse. All other orders ship from our China warehouse. We do not ship from China to the USA due to tariff reasons.

If your country isn't listed and you'd like to order, contact us and we'll see what we can arrange.

Hydrofoil components are large, heavy, and fragile — they require specialized, generally oversized packaging and freight services to arrive safely. Unlike small parcels, foil gear often ships via freight carriers rather than standard postal networks, which significantly increases the cost.

We work hard to keep shipping as competitive as possible and absorb a portion of freight costs where we can. We've also built a portion of shipping costs into our product pricing to keep checkout costs more transparent.

Board shipping costs vary based on board type and destination. Board shipping is currently only available for USA and Hawaii orders.

  • Downwind boards — US: $175 / Hawaii: $225
  • Prone / surf foil boards — US: $75 / Hawaii: $125

International board shipping is calculated at checkout based on your address.

Please allow 1–3 business days for order processing, then:

  • USA (domestic) — typically 3–7 business days
  • Australia & NZ — typically 7–14 business days
  • Canada & Europe — typically 10–21 business days
  • International (DHL/FedEx) — typically 5–12 business days
These are estimates only. Customs delays, carrier backlogs, and remote locations can extend delivery times. You'll receive a tracking number once your order ships.
Important for international customers: Shipping costs shown at checkout do NOT include import duties, VAT, GST, or brokerage fees charged by your country's customs authority.

Orders shipped internationally may be subject to customs charges once the parcel reaches your destination. These fees are set by your local customs authority — we have no control over them and cannot predict the amount. They are the recipient's responsibility to pay.

We do not mark parcels as gifts or undervalue shipments to reduce these fees. See our Shipping Policy for the full customs and duties notice.

This notice appears because the specific product you're looking at is only available to ship from one of our warehouses, and that warehouse doesn't ship to your region.

  • Our Huntington Beach, CA warehouse ships to USA and Hawaii only
  • Our China warehouse ships to international destinations (Australia, Canada, UK, Europe, NZ, Japan, Israel, South Korea, UAE)
  • We do not ship from China to the USA due to tariff reasons

If you're seeing this message, the item may be out of stock at the warehouse that serves your region, or it's only stocked at the other location. Contact us and we'll let you know when it will be available for your location.

Hardware & Compatibility

4 questions

Hardware is not included with individual components. You will need a Tool Bag, which contains all the hardware necessary to get you on the water. The Tool Bag is available in our store.

Replacement hardware (barrel nuts, bolts, etc.) is also available separately under the Accessories section.

Titanium bolts are our recommendation for saltwater use. They are significantly more corrosion-resistant, lighter, and have excellent strength. Worth the investment for any connection that sees constant seawater exposure.

Stainless steel bolts are a cost-effective option but require more diligent maintenance. We highly recommend using a marine grade lubricant such as Tef-Gel with stainless steel bolts to prevent corrosion and seizing.

Always rinse your foil thoroughly with fresh water after every session — regardless of which hardware you use.

Replacement hardware is available on our website under the Accessories section. If you can't find a specific part, contact us with the part name and we'll help you track it down.

Unifoil components are compatible with most foil boards on the market. Check that your board's box type matches the mast base you're ordering.

Our wings use a proprietary connection designed for Unifoil fuselages — mixing with other brands is not guaranteed to be compatible and may void warranty. Contact us with the details of your existing setup for a specific compatibility answer.

Technical & Product Details

4 questions
  • Short fuselage — more direct, snappy response; better for high-performance surf and wake foiling where quick pitch changes and tight turns are desired. Recommended to pair with the Evolution front wing series.
  • Medium fuselage — more stable, predictable handling; better for downwind, prone foiling, and riders who prefer a more forgiving ride

As a general rule: experienced riders tend to prefer shorter fuselages. Beginners and those prioritizing stability should start with medium or long.

Wing selection depends on your weight, riding style, conditions, and experience level. Larger wings provide more lift and are better for beginners or light/slow conditions. Smaller wings are faster and more responsive for experienced riders.

Visit our Wing Selection Guide on the website, or contact our team with your weight, experience level, and what style of foiling you're doing — we'll point you in the right direction.

We currently have customers successfully running Unifoil components with Foil Drive setups. We hope to have a dedicated carbon integrated mast available in May 2026.

Please contact our team directly for the most current information — this is a fast-moving area and we want to give you accurate, up-to-date details.

  • Aggression series — high-performance, fast, and responsive; designed for experienced riders who want maximum speed and a dynamic feel
  • Evolution series — versatile all-around wings; excellent balance of lift, speed, and glide for a wide range of riders and conditions
  • Progression series — designed for learning and developing technique; more lift and stability to help new riders progress faster

Within each series, larger numbers typically mean more surface area and lift.

Pricing

3 questions

Because we sell direct and cut out the retail middleman. We've also built a portion of shipping costs into our product pricing to keep things more transparent at checkout.

See our Price Transparency page for a full side-by-side breakdown showing exactly what you're saving vs. 2025 retail prices.

No. Our website prices are set in USD and do not include import duty, VAT, or customs fees. International customers may be assessed additional fees upon arrival of their shipment — these are the buyer's responsibility.

Our direct-to-consumer model means we already offer lower prices than traditional retail — there isn't a lot of margin left to discount from. We don't offer general discount codes on request.

One way to save: use our Bundle Builder to build a complete kit and save $100.

We occasionally run promotions — subscribe to our newsletter and follow us on social media to hear about these first.

Beginners & Getting Started

2 questions

To get you on the water, a complete Unifoil foil setup requires the following components:

  • Front Wing — provides lift (choose based on your weight and riding style)
  • Mast — connects the foil to your board
  • Fuselage — links the front wing to the tail wing
  • Tail Wing — provides stability and pitch control
  • Tool Bag — contains all the hardware (bolts, barrel nuts) needed to assemble everything
Use our Bundle Builder to put together a complete kit and save $100. Not sure what to choose? Contact us and we'll help you build the right setup for your weight and riding style.

For beginners, start with a setup that prioritizes stability and ease of learning. Our Progression series packages are built exactly for this. Key recommendations:

  • Choose a larger front wing — more surface area = more lift and forgiveness
  • Go with a medium or long fuselage — for more predictable pitch behavior

Our team loves helping beginners — contact us and tell us your weight, what kind of foiling you want to do (surf, kite, wing, downwind), and your experience level. We'll build you a kit that sets you up for success.

Foil lessons are a great investment before or alongside your first setup. You'll progress faster and be less likely to damage gear learning the basics.
